Equipping staff to get the job done well

We are operating in challenging times and it's no surprise that some organizations are looking at reducing headcount and improving efficiencies to uphold performance. Yet whilst there is much resizing going on those staff left behind need to be better equipped to get the job done well. When we think of equipping people it's important to consider the skills, mindset, processes, tools and systems they need to work smarter and give your business optimal productivity and performance.

The People

Partnering can engage many professional disciplines over the lifecycle of an alliance as shown in the graphic; indeed on our workshops we have sales, operations, purchasing, marketing, chief executives, finance, HR and other professionals in the room. One common theme is that their underlying professional discipline (eg purchasing) does not equip them with the skills or mindset to get the most from their partnering efforts. It's pretty much down to the individual to generate a collaborative mindset and this could be a real challenge if their organization has many factors affecting collaboration (for more on how to address factors affecting collaboration see Alliance Brand).

Alliantist has worked with numerous organizations, large and small, public and private in helping equip their people with the right skills and mindset for developing winning partnerships and sustainable alliance ventures. There is a significant behavioral element to partnering and that cannot be emphasized too highly. However as with yin and yang, for sustainable success that softer behavioral side is always underpinned by depth in process, tools and systems more
